McMaster MSTS is a student chapter sponsored by MetSoc of CIM, and Material Advantage: ACerS, AIST, ASM International, and TMS.
Pizza and Portraits
October 28, 2021
The McMaster MSTS kicked of the 2021/2022 year with a networking/info night entitled Pizza and Portraits!
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members gathered in person to network, discuss the benefits of the associated groups MetSoC/CIM, take some LinkedIn headshots, as well as enjoy some pizza and refreshments. This was an informal drop-in event that ran from 4-7 pm. Thank you to all our participants!
Resume Making Workshop
January 12, 2021
The McMaster MSTS held its fourth annual resume making workshop, hosted by Shannon Clark from ArcelorMittal Dofasco. During this virtual workshop, Shannon summarized all the major aspects involved in preparing an entry level resume for an engineering position. The workshop consisted of a detailed explanation of each major section as well as a vibrant Q&A session pertaining to format, language, and other supplementary aspects of resume building.
Materials on the Move
October 1st - November 25th, 2020
The McMaster MSTS decided to host its very first Virtual Materials on the Move event, consisting of a 5 km walk/run and/or a 10 km bike ride, with the hope of encouraging everyone to get moving and take a (much needed) break from the increased screen time everyone has been experiencing lately.
This event also encouraged participants to capture images of anything related to materials science and engineering while they were on the move. Students were encouraged to submit their photos along with a photo caption for a chance WIN a free one-year Material Advantage Student Membership!
Congratulations to Toby McMurray for being the recipient of this year's photo contest!
